When They See Us is a powerful and moving miniseries about the Central Park Five, a group of African American teenagers who were wrongfully convicted of rape in 1989. The series follows their lives from the moment of their arrest to their exoneration in 2002. Director Ava DuVernay does an excellent job of showing the devastating impact of the case on their lives, as well as the systemic racism that allowed it to happen. The performances of the actors are outstanding, making this series a must-watch.
